Training
Harrogate Harriers provide athletes with structured training which can be used as an objective measurement of their performance. The sessions are designed to help athletes of every ability to improve their performance. (timings may vary please check socials, weekly email or get in touch)
The Harriers meet at Harrogate Squash and Fitness Centre twice a week for training sessions. In general, we will be there...but if it is your first session and you aren't a member, it would be best to email someone from the committee first to check on arrangements.
Groups
At Tuesday training, we typically have several options available including:
Short efforts - Great for blasting your heart rate up. Normally recommended as the the best group for new members getting a feel for how we train
Long efforts - More endurance focussed loops
Sub 40 minute 10k training group - For experienced runners fighting at the front of their races or age categories
Do’s & Don’ts
Do be nice to each other and other road/footpath users. Remember you represent the club
Don’t wear headphones, you can’t hear instructions or traffic
Do listen to the advice of your run leaders and coaches. They are there for your safety and to provide guidance
Don’t pigeon-hole yourself. You never know what you can achieve until you try!
Mondays 6.00pm

Tuesdays 7.00pm

Coaches normally run 3-4 groups covering short intervals, long intervals, hills and fartlek, threshold sessions as part of a cyclic and progressive training programme. We also offer 10k training programmes / marathon training depending on the time of year and group needs.
Thursdays
Times and locations advised in weekly notices and social media.
Thursday runs are growing in popularity - these usually meet at 6:30pm. Details on Spond and social media.
Sunday ‘Porridge’ Run
Every Sunday at 8am ish from the Club House, all welcome. We do 10mile Plus at a chatty pace (no-one is left behind), ideal if you are training for something and would like some company on your long run or simply want a good catch-up with fellow club mates!
We always finish off back at the Club House for Porridge & Coffee afterwards (not compulsory BUT highly recommended!).
Taster sessions (Trial Period)
For all new athletes we operate a 2-4 week taster session policy to ensure the club is right for you before you commit to joining. If you’re attending on this basis then please carry an ‘In Case of Emergency’ (ICE) card which contains contact details with you and give one to your run leader.
