Safeguarding and Welfare
UK Athletics (UKA) / England Athletic (EA) welfare standards are integral to the operation of our club: Club Safeguarding and Welfare.
Safeguarding is everyones responsibility
Safeguarding regulations are regularly updated and available here: safeguarding-regulations-2023
Safeguarding is necessary to protect the welfare of all those who participate in athletics
Welfare covers a range of issues such as safeguarding and protecting children, anti-bullying, poor practice in coaching and disciplinary matters. It encompasses policies and procedures to set out minimum standards of expectations, such as codes of conduct, procedures to follow for dealing with child protection concerns, other welfare issues or complaints, and to ensure that England Athletics, clubs and associations meet their statutory responsibilities to safeguard and protect children and adults.
Welfare is essential to contribute to good practice within athletics, develop performance and to ensure the safety and enjoyment of athletes, coaches, officials and volunteers.
If you have a safeguarding concern please report this to the adult welfare officer - Ben Shacklock at Welfare@harrogate-harriers.co.uk. If you want to know the requirements for being a club welfare officer, you can find them here: Adult Welfare Officer requirements.
If you have a serious or urgent concern please contact EA directly submit a concern or if appropriate 101 or 999 in an emergency.
Harrogate Harriers have adopted the EA Adult safeguarding policy. Please take some time to read it so you are able to recognise issues that might affect you or others:
